In the following posts on this subject I will be reviewing a book I read titled Wealth, Riches, and Money. By Craig Hill and Earl Pitts.
The first thing that stood out to me is that you must lay the foundation before tithing and sowing come into play. In fact they go so far as to say that doing this wrong means your harvest will go to your creditors.
So to start without the proper foundation will insure failure and frustration. Here is what Hill and Pitts lay out.
From page 3,
- The New Testament actually contains 215 verses pertaining to faith
- 218 verses pertaining to salvation
- 2084 verses dealing with the stewardship of and accountability for money and finance
- 16 of Jesus’ 38 parables deal with money.
(My thought) With so many Christians living paycheck to paycheck, do you think we missed something? Have we had the answer all along and just forgot to find it?
They go on to say, Jesus is not after your money. He is after your heart. How we relate to money is simply indicative of the condition of our hearts.
Why don’t more Christians write about money? Jesus sure did teach a lot about it! And yet it is said that 80% of Christian homes have some type of financial distress. And 50% of divorces in America today has to do with finances.
