How Do You Know if it is Your Imagination or God Speaking? -Day 6

Posted by Chip D Thompson on September 1, 2014 in 30 Blog Challenge, Journaling |

This question comes to mind just about every time I sit down to Journal, and hear from God.

So this is how I test what I hear.

Does it line up with the word of God?

Does it end in good results?

Anything God tells me will always agree with His Word. And though I may not like or fully understand what He says I know in my heart it will have a good outcome.

I think another way to say this is, wisdom always gets good results. My wisdom on other hand is spotty at best. Normally my imagination can come up with all kinds of crazy things, e.g. weird dreams.

But when I have been seeking God and my mind is on him, my imagination runs to good things and not weird ungodly things.

When I was a kid my imagination would run wild on negative bad scenarios and what I would do about them. In contrast when I started to Journal and hear from God I got forward thinking possibilities and insights.

I understood what I needed to change and improve. My temper toned down and I was able to relate to my family with more grace.

These are all results of the wisdom of God working in my life.

So my answer to this question is this, what are the results of what you are hearing?Do they pass this test?

Does it line up with the word of God?

Does it get good results?

Does it lay down a new path for you?

Does it get you out of your comfort zone?

Do you want to spend more time in the presence of God after journaling?

Do you have that inner peace and satisfaction?

Knowing how to discern the voice of God is a pursuit worth a lifetime!
